I’m a Cold Snap super-fan for many reasons but my number one reason for loving Cold Snap is because my 3 ½ year old daughter loves Cold Snap. As a parent I relish in watching my daughter stir this blend of 20 Chinese herbs into her morning glass of juice knowing that it will help to keep her healthy. If you’ve ever been in contact with a 3 ½ year old you understand that compliance with anything other than their own agenda is hard won. So the fact that my daughter willingly participates in her own preventative health makes me feel like I’ve received a gold medal in parenting. But the real gold medal here goes to Cold Snap and to Jennifer Pillari, who operates its parent, Oriental Herb Company (OHCO), locally out of her home office in Lafayette, Colorado.
A true Colorado business OHCO and its family of 7 products was founded in Evergreen in 1994 by Donn Hayes, a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, and his wife, Hannah Hayes. Jennifer (also a licensed acupuncturist) bought the company from its original owners in 2013. The products have healing applications for the whole family- including, yes, your dog. If you ever have the pleasure of taking a walk with Jennifer and her spry 12 year-old bull terrier, you’ll quickly learn that Oscar’s spunk comes from his daily dose of Ohco-Motion which is specially formulated to ease sore muscles.
Among the many reasons to love Cold Snap is that OHCO donates its herbal formulas to support local non-profits. This winter Cold Snap is available on the shelves at Sister Carmen Community Center’s food bank. You can do good and stay healthy by purchasing Cold Snap or another OHCO formula on their website.
